1965-66

The black jersey is retired; thus, the gold jersey became the Bruins' full-time home jersey. With the majority of TVs in the mid-1960s being black and white, that meant viewers tuning in to game being played at the Boston Garden had a hard time distinguishing the two teams apart. So the NHL asked teams traveling to Boston to start packing their dark jerseys and socks for those games (color-coordinated helmets had not yet come into style, as very few players wore them back then).
