1927-28
• The New York Rangers become the first U.S.-based team since the formation of the NHL to win the Stanley Cup, beating the Montreal Maroons, three games to two. The last U.S.-based team to win the Stanley Cup was the Seattle Metropolitans of the Western Hockey League in 1917 -- just before the establishment of the NHL.
